Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup dark corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup dark molasses
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/2-3/4 teaspoon ground cloves

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a large mixing bowl cream the sugar with butter for 2 minutes.

  • Step 2: Add in orange juice, corn syrup and molasses; beat until well combined.

  • Step 3: In another bowl combine the flour with next 6 dry ingredients; add to the creamed mixture beating on low speed until blended.

  • Step 4: Cover and refrigerate for 4-24 hours (or even longer).

  • Step 5: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Step 6: Grease a large baking sheet/s.

  • Step 7: On a lightly floured surface roll the dough (a portion at a time) to 1/4-inch thickness.

  • Step 8: Cut into desired shapes.

  • Step 9: Place 2-inches apart on prepared baking sheet/s.

  • Step 10: Bake for 12-14 minutes (for a softer chewy cookie reduce baking time to 10 minutes).
