Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 (3 to 4 pound) beef chuck roast
  • Fresh ground black pepper and garlic powder
  • Oil. as needed for browning
  • 1 medium onion, halved and sliced 1/4" inch thick
  • 6 to 8 garlic cloves, coarsely chopped
  • 2 (10 3/4 oz) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
  • 2 packets Lipton's dry onion soup mix (for best flavor do not use any generic brands)
  • 1/4 cup red wine
  • 3/4 cup low-sodium beef broth (can use water)
  • Tabasco sauce, optional and to taste

How to Make

  • Step 1: Season the roast generously with black pepper and garlic powder (no salt). Place the onion slices and chopped garlic into the bottom of the slowcooker.

  • Step 2: In a skillet heat oil over medium-high heat (use as much as as you like). brown the roast on all sides. Place in the slowcooker on top of the sliced onions.

  • Step 3: Mix in a bowl mix both cans cream of mushroom soup, onion soup mix, wine, beef broth and Tabasco sauce until combined. Pour over roast.

  • Step 4: Cook on LOW setting for 5 to 8 hours. Delicious!
