  • 1/2 pound cream cheese (package cream cheese, softened, 8 ounces)
  • 1/2 cup margarine (or butter)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

How to Make

  • Step 1: For the cake: Preheat oven to 350°F.

  • Step 2: In large bowl, stir all cake ingredients together by hand.

  • Step 3: Spread evenly in 9- x 13-inch glass baking dish and bake until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean, about 35 minutes.

  • Step 4: While cake is baking, make frosting: In large bowl, using electric mixer, beat cream cheese, margarine, and vanilla until smooth.

  • Step 5: Add sugar and continue to beat until well combined.

  • Step 6: Pour frosting over the cake immediately upon taking the cake out of the oven.

  • Step 7: Cool the frosted cake in the refrigerator.
