Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 8 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 3 cups broccoli (small broccoli florets)
  • 6 ounces dry penne pasta (uncooked)
  • 16 ounces evaporated milk
  • 1 tablespoon all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 ounces grated low-fat cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/2 ounces Parmesan cheese (freshly grated)
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

How to Make

  • Step 1: In large pot of boiling water, cook garlic 3 minutes, until softened.

  • Step 2: With slotted spoon, remove garlic from water.

  • Step 3: Mince garlic; set aside.

  • Step 4: In same pot of boiling water, cook broccoli 3 minutes, until bright green and just softened.

  • Step 5: With slotted spoon, remove broccoli from water; set aside.

  • Step 6: In same pot of boiling water, cook Penne 8-10 minutes, until tender.

  • Step 7: Drain, discarding liquid; set aside.

  • Step 8: Meanwhile, in large nonstick skillet, with wire whisk, combine milk and flour, blending until flour is dissolved.

  • Step 9: Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly with wire whisk, 4 minutes, until mixture is bubbling and thickened; stir in minced garlic.

  • Step 10: Reduce heat to low.

  • Step 11: Add cheddar and Parmesan cheeses, pepper and salt to milk mixture; cook, stirring constantly, until cheeses are melted.

  • Step 12: Stir in cooked broccoli and Penne; cook, stirring frequently, just until heated through.
