Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3/4 to 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts (cut into bite-sized pieces (or use boneless skinless chicken thighs, 2 breasts)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or sub coco aminos)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar (or substitute apple cider vinegar)
  • 3 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • Gingerroot (one 1 1/2-2 inch piece ginger, finely minced)
  • Red pepper flakes (pinch of)
  • Scallions, for garnish
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Add the chicken breast pieces, cornstarch, and freshly ground black pepper to a plastic bag. Shake the bag until the chicken is coated in the cornstarch.

  • Step 2: Heat the oil in a large pan over high heat. Add the chicken and sear it until it is well browned on all sides, about 8 minutes.

  • Step 3: Add the chicken and all the remaining ingredients to your crockpot and give it a stir. Set your crockpot to high for 4 hours.

  • NOTE: Considering crockpot temperature differs from brand to brand, you may want to check your chicken after a couple of hours, if cooked on high in the event that it is ready in a quicker time frame. You may also want to cook it low for a slower cooking time, which is what I would opt to do.

  • Step 4: Serve the Crockpot General Tso's Chicken with a side of rice, some steamed veggies and a little sprinkle of green onions on top.
