Step 1: Preheat oven to 300F. Grease a rimmed cookie sheet and set aside.
Step 2: In a large bowl, combine the first four ingredients. Melt butter in a saucepan, stir in the brown sugar, syrup and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in baking soda and vanilla.
Step 3: Gradually pour the syrup mixture over the cereal mixture. Stir to coat thoroughly. Spread evenly on the cookie sheet.
Step 4: Bake for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and stir well. Return to oven and bake for 15 minutes more.
Step 5: Cool completely on the pan. Break into desired size pieces and store in an airtight container.
