  • The following recipe serves 15 people.

Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups dark rum (or as desired)
  • Heavy whipped cream (I suggest to use the canned real whipped cream with the spray spout for easier topping in the glasses)
  • Ground nutmeg, for topping

How to Make

  • Step 1: Put all ingredients, except rum and cream, and nutmeg into crockpot. Add 2 quarts hot water. Stir well. Cover pot and cook on LOW for 5 hours. -- NOTE: before adding in the run to the crockpot please read the recipe heading). Add rum; stir to blend (I suggest to start with 1 cup and add in more to taste, or add in the desired amount to the glasses).

  • Step 2: Serve from the crockpot in warm mugs with a scoop of whipped cream and a dusting of nutmeg.
