Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 pounds lean beef, cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup sake or sherry
  • 2/3 cup murin, Japanese sweet wine (essential to this recipe)
  • Tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed

How to Make

  • Step 1: Night before: Trim and cut meat and put into the slow cooker.

  • Step 2: Combine the rest of the ingredients and pour over the beef; place in the refrigerator to marinade overnight.

  • Step 3: Next Day: Remove from refrigerator and cook on HIGH for 3 to 4 hours or on LOW for 6 to 8 hour or until beef is tender.

  • Step 4: Just before serving, remove beef and place in a shallow broilig pan. Pour 1/2 cup of the sauce over the beef.

  • Step 5: Place under broiler for 3 to 5 minutes; watch closely that it does not burn.

  • Step 6: Serve with ginger scented rice and steamed vegetables. Pass extra sauce.
