Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate (baking chocolate melted, cooled)
  • 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Assorted candies (broken in half or cut into 1/2- to 3/4-inch pieces, if desired)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium bowl add softened butter, chocolate, and powdered sugar, mix until well combined. Stir in egg, flour, baking soda and salt. Chill in refrigerator for 15 minutes but no longer than 30 minutes.

  • Step 2: Take dough out of refrigerator and shape into one inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet 2 inches apart.

  • Step 3: Bake for 7 to 9 minutes or until no indentation occurs when touched lightly. Cool for one minute on cookie sheet then remove cookies to wire cooling racks. Immediately top with your choice of candy. The candy will melt slightly.
