Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350F.
Step 2: Prepare a Bundt pan by spraying liberally with nonstick baking spray - set aside.
Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, cream sugar and shortening.
Step 4: Add the eggs, lemon juice and mashed bananas - mix well.
Step 5: Soft together the flour, mace, baking powder and baking soda.
Step 6: Add the water then the flour mixture to the mixing bowl and incorporate well.
Step 7: Fold in the nuts and/or the chocolate chips if desired.
Step 8: Bake for 30 minutes or until the top is brown and toothpick comes out mostly clean.
Step 9: Remove from the oven , place the pan on the wire rack and let the bread cool in the pan for about 15 minutes.
Step 10: Invert the bread onto the wire rack and cool on the rack.
