Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 cups instant potato flakes
  • 1 cup finely shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt or white salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper, or to taste
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/4 melted butter
  • Oil for frying

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a large bowl combine the first 8 dry ingredients. In another small bowl whisk milk with egg and melted butter until well blended; add to dry ingredients and mix using a wooden spoon until combined. Let the mixture stand for 5 minutes.

  • Step 2: Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat Place about 2 tablespoons of the mixture into your hands then shape into a ball.

  • Step 3: Place into hot oil then using a fork or spatula press down into about 1-inch rounds (the size does not have to be exact). Cook about 3 minutes per side or until browned adding in more oil to the skillet if needed.
