  • 2 to 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 3/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1 can (6 ounce) tomato paste
  • ¼ cup dark molasses
  • ¼ cup light molasses
  • ¼ cup water or more
  • 2 tablespoons orange marmalade
  • 1½ teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon ginger
  • ½ teaspoon ground mustard
  • ¼ teaspoon ground allspice
  • ¼ teaspoon celery seed
  • ¼ teaspoon dried thyme leaves
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne
  • 1 small bay leaf
  • 1 tablespoon liquid smoke

How to Make

  • Step 1: In medium saucepan combine all ingredients except liquid smoke.

  • Step 2: Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, simmer gently uncovered for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • Step 3: Remove from heat. Add liquid smoke. Stir.
