Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/2 cup self raising flour
  • 1/2 cup plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 125 grams butter, chopped
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats (not quick oats)
  • 540 grams apples (6 x 90 gram apples, fresh, golden delicious halved & cored)(weight is approx)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 180 degrees celsius fan forced.

  • Step 2: Lightly grease a baking dish.

  • Step 3: Combine the flour and cinnamon in a large bowl and add the butter ~ use your fingertips to rub the butter it into the flour mix until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs.

  • Step 4: Stir in the brown sugar and oats and again use fingers to mix until crumble almost comes together.

  • Step 5: Place the apples into the baking dish & press the crumble mixture evenly into the center and over the apples.

  • Step 6: Bake apples for about 20 minutes or until the apples are just tender and crumble golden

  • Step 7: Tip ~ If the top begins to brown too much, cover the apples loosely with foil during cooking.

  • Step 8: Serve warm with ice cream and or custard.
