Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons granulated garlic powder (make sure it is granulated)
  • 1 tablespoon prepared yellow mustard
  • 1/2 cup ketchup (or more added later or can add in some brown sugar)
  • Ground pepper (to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream (or to taste)
  • Seasoned salt (added towards to end of cooking - or white salt)
  • 3 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 3/4 cups grated cheddar cheese (divided - or to taste -- or you can omit the cheese on top and use grated Parmesan cheese)
  • 112 grams dry macaroni pasta (1 cup dry)
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a large non-stick skillet with high sides, add in ground beef. With a spoon separate the beef in larger size chunks. Add in a tablespoon of butter (or you could omit the butter). Cook and brown the beef chunks very well (about 12 minutes). Add in mustard and ketchup (start with 1/2 cup ketchup) and all spices; continue to cook stirring a few minutes more.

  • Step 2: Add in cream and beef broth; bring to a simmer stirring.

  • Step 3: Mix in the dry macaroni. Bring back to a simmer. Cover and lightly simmer 20 minutes (adding in more ketchup if desired).

  • Step 4: Remove cover and simmer uncovered until pasta is cooked to your liking, seasoning with salt towards the end of cooking time.

  • Step 5: Mix in 1/4 cup of cheese until combined. Sprinkle top with more cheese. Serve.

  • NOTE: if you are serving kids you may want to increase the ketchup for a sweeter taste or add in some brown sugar
