Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 pound bulk pork sausage meat (such as Bob Evans Sausage Roll, or Jimmy Dean’s bulk pork sausage)
  • 1 small onion, chopped (about 1/3 cup)
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or adjust to taste
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt, or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper, or to taste (I use lots of pepper!)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  • Step 2: Add in the sausage meat and onion; cook stirring constantly until lightly browned (this may take about 12 minutes or a little more the meat must be lightly browned) drain some fat but leave a little in the skillet for the flour to hold on to).

  • Step 3: Stir in the flour and cayenne pepper until blended.

  • Step 4: Pour in the milk; bring to a simmer and cook stirring until bubbly and thickened.

  • Step 5: Season with salt and pepper.
