Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line or grease 12 regular-size muffin tins.
Step 2: For topping; blend together melted butter and cocoa until smooth. Stir in remaining topping ingredients; set aside.
Step 3: For muffins; In a bowl combine cocoa and oil mixing until smooth; mix in applesace and egg until well combined.
Step 4: In another bowl combine the flour with sugar, baking soda, salt and cinnamon; stir in the applesauce mixture JUST until moistened. Spoon into muffin tins 3/4 full. Sprinkle the topping over each muffin. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
