Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, smashed
  • 1 green onions, minced
  • 7 ounces dry rice (1 cup)
  • 6 ounces orzo pasta (1 cup)
  • 3 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Italian spices
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat oil and butter

  • Step 2: Add onion cook until translucent . Add garlic then the rice and pasta. Cook until opaque.

  • Step 3: Add spices. Add broth add green onion; cover simmer on low 20 minutes. Let stand covered 5 minutes

  • Step 4: Fluff with a fork then add cheese if you wish
