Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • Quart of chokecherries
  • Vodka enough to fill jar (small bottle should cover berries)
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Wash chokecherries, add berries to sterilised quart canning jar to within 1 inch from the top

  • Step 2: Add sugar, fill with vodka. Be sure you have the jar lid on tightly; shake gently to mix sugar

  • Step 3: Jar best kept in a darkened cupboard. Turn every day for 8 weeks - one day right side up the next day upside down

  • Step 4: After 8 weeks, strain through cheesecloth lined stainer or stain in fine strainer and put through coffee filters. Bottle. I search out the yard sales and thrift shops for pretty bottles. Pretty bottles or decanters tied with a ribbon make great gifts.

  • Step 5: Want a holiday cocktail - bring out your cocktail glasses add a splash of champagne or sparking wine over the liqueur. A sparking holiday cocktail!
