  • 48 grams bacon, sliced (4 slices)
  • 1/4 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 3 cups okra (sliced)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 158 grams dry rice (1 cup raw)
  • 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 3 green onions, chopped

How to Make

  • Step 1: In large stock pot cook bacon. Remove

  • Step 2: In grease, cook onions until soft

  • Step 3: Add spices and okra cook 5 minutes stirring often

  • Step 4: Add garlic stirring but dont burn

  • Step 5: Add rice and cook until translucent

  • Step 6: Add broth and bay leaf. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes

  • Step 7: Take out bay leaf. Garnish with green onions and crumbled bacon
