  • 300 ml water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • Step 1: Bring the water with salt added to a rolling boil

  • Step 2: Add raw brown rice

  • Step 3: Swirl the pan to combine - DO NOT STIR

  • Step 4: Bring rice to a boil

  • Step 5: Cover saucepan with a tight fitting lid

  • Step 6: Turn heat to the lowest possible setting

  • Step 7: Cook 40 minutes

  • Step 8: Uncover: place a tea towel over the pan, cover tightly

  • Step 9: Let the rice stand (no heat) for 20 minutes to firm

  • Step 10: Remove lid

  • Step 11: Fluff with a fork and serve
