Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 tablespoons margarine (I use Becel)
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (I use Splenda)
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup walnuts, roughly chopped (optional)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350f degrees

  • Step 2: Spray an 8 inch square baking dish with veggies spray and dust with cocoa, shaking out excess.

  • Step 3: In a small saucepan melt margarine on low heat; remove from heat and stir in cocoa, sugar, egg, applesauce and vanilla, beating until smooth

  • Step 4: In a separate bowl add flour , baking soda and salt , whisk together to blend; stir in walnuts if using. Gently stir flour mixture into cocoa mixtrue until well combined.

  • Step 5: Pour into prepared pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until set.

  • Step 6: Cool completely and cut into 16 squares with a hot wet knife, store in refrerator.

  • Step 7: Alternately; spoon batter into mini cup cake pappers, bake until toothpick stuck in centre comes out clean, about 20 minutes. Top with choclolate frosting.
