Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 tablespoon silvered almonds
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 romaine lettuce
  • 1/2 bibb lettuce (I use Bibb, red leaf and baby spinach to equal 1/2 head Bibb)
  • 1 cup celery chopped
  • 3 to 4 green onions thinly sliced
  • 1 (11 ounce ) can of Mandarin oranges drained
  • 1/4 silvered almonds
  • Dressing
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar (or lemon juice)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon snipped parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • Dash pepper
  • Dash of hot sauce (optional)

How to Make

  • Step 1: In pan over medium heat stir silvered almonds and sugar until the sugar is melted and almonds are coated. Cool, set aside

  • Step 2: Place dressing ingredients in jar with fitted lid. Shake to mix, refrigerate - best for several hours or overnight to mellow

  • Step 3: In a large glass salad bowl, tear salad greens into bite size pieces, add onions and celery

  • Step 4: Just before serving, shake dressing, pour over greens, lightly toss to mix. Gently add oranges. Sprinkle silvered almonds on top
