Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 5 to 6 pounds pork ribs (spareribs)
  • Seasoned salt and fresh ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced (can use more)
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne (or to taste)
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2/3 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water (cold)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Season the ribs with seasoned salt and black pepper, then place on a rack in a large shallow roasting pan; bake uncovered in a preheated 350 degree F oven for 1-1/2 hours.

  • Step 2: Meanwhile in a small saucepan heat oil; add in garlic stir for 2 minutes; add the cayenne, white sugar, brown sugar, cornstarch, ketchup, vinegar and water until smooth; bring to a boil, cook stirring for 1-2 minutes or until thickened.

  • Step 3: Remove ribs and the rack from pan; drain the fat.

  • Step 4: Return ribs to roasting pan; baste ribs with about 1-1/2 cups sauce; bake 30 minutes longer. Cut ribs into serving-size pieces; brush with remaining sauce
