Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 4 pounds beef chuck roast, boneless
  • 3 tablespoons oil, divided
  • 2 large onions, diced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2/3 cup chili sauce
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon liquid smoke, OPTIONAL

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a dutch oven brown the roast on all sides in 1 tablespoon oil

  • Step 2: In a large saucepan, saute onions in remaining oil until tender

  • Step 3: Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat. simmer, uncovered for 15 minutes stirring occasionally

  • Step 4: Pour over roast Cover and bake in oven at 325F for 2 hours.

  • Step 5: Turn the roast and bake for another 2 hours or until roast is very tender

  • Step 6: Remove roast, shredd with a fork and return to the sauce

  • Step 7: Serve on rolls
