  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 6 bay leaves
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 pound potatoes (cubed)
  • 8 ounces corn cobs (mini ears of corn or two ears of corn, halved)

We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Begin by making your seasoning from the celery salt, ground pepper, cayenne pepper, paprika, dry mustard, ground nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves. Mix in a small bowl and keep nearby.

  • Step 2: In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil and stir in 2 tablespoons of your prepared seasoning until combined well.

  • Step 3: In a covered baking dish, add the cubed potatoes, ears of corn (if these were purchased frozen, you'll want them thawed out), and the smoked sausage.

  • Step 4: Pour the seasoned water mixture over the top, add bay leaves, and toss a little to coat everything.

  • Step 5: Bake at 400 degrees for 40 minutes or until potatoes are tender.

  • Alternative one pot modification -- if you're using a Dutch oven, boil your water and seasonings in that; then add potatoes, corn, smoked sausage, and bay leaves. Then transfer to oven to bake as directed.

  • Step 6: Remove from oven and discard bay leaves. Add shrimp (again, if these were purchased frozen, have them already thawed) and butter. Toss to coat everything well.

  • Step 7: Continue baking for about 5-7 minutes.

  • Step 8: Remove from oven and sprinkle 2 tablespoons of prepared seasoning and lemon juice over the top and toss to coat.

  • Step 9: Serve immediately. Serve with any remaining seasoning for individuals to add as they wish.
