Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/2 pound butter
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons anise flavoring (1-fluid ounce bottle)
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

How to Make

  • Step 1: Melt the butter and cool slightly.

  • Step 2: Beat eggs and sugar till smooth; add the cooled butter; mix well.

  • Step 3: Add anise and mix; add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.

  • Step 4: Heat the Pizzelle iron and place a rounded spoonful of dough in the center of the design; dough will be slightly soft. NOTE: You may want to discard the first couple as I always use them as a test.

  • Step 5: Press handles of iron together for just a short time till the pizzelle is done--take off and cool.

  • Step 6: NOTE: These freeze well; when ready to serve, sift confectioners sugar over them. I don't know exactly how many they make, but lots; am only guessing.
