Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion (chopped)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 4 ounces sliced bread (4 slices)
  • Sriracha sauce
  • 2/3 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 8 tablespoons butter, divided

How to Make

  • Step 1: Prepare the onions by heating a cast iron skillet over medium high heat and adding the olive oil. Add the onion and salt; cook 3 minutes, stirring constantly and dadd 1 tablespoon water; cover, reduce heat to low and cook for 40 minutes or until onions are golden brown and tender; adding more water as needed. Scrape onions into a small bowl and wipe out skillet.

  • Step 2: To make sandwiches: spread 2 slices of bread with sriracha sauce. Spread onions over 2 other slices of bread and sprinkle the cheddar cheese over the onions. Top with a slice of bread with the sriracha sauce side down.

  • Step 3: Heat skillet over medium high heat. Spread 1 side of each sandwiches with 2 tablespoons butter; place buttered side down in skillet; cook 2-5 minutes or until golden brown. Spread top of each sandwich with 2 tablespoons butter and flip sandwiches. Cook 2-3 minutes or until second side is golden brown.
