Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • FOR CRUST
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 package (16.5 ounce) refrigerated sugar cookie dough
  • FOR FILLING
  • 2 1/2 pounds apples (Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, sliced into 1/2 inch pieces)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/8 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • 1/2 cup caramel topping (bottled)
  • FOR TOPPING
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 6 tablespoons butter (cold, chopped)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 9 inch springform pan with cooking spray and set aside.

  • Step 2: Add flour and refrigerated cookie dough to a large mixing bowl. With a pastry knife, but in the cookie dough until pea-size pieces form. Shape the dough into a large disc and put into the pan. Firmly press and work the dough against the bottom and sides of the pan to form a 1/4 inch thick crust. Set aside.

  • Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, toss the apples, sugar, flour and spice until well coated. Transfer apples to the prepared crust. and spread evenly Drizzle the caramel topping over the top of the apples. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.

  • Step 4: Meanwhile, combine the flour, sugars, spice and vanilla in a medium bowl. Cut in the butter until it resembles coarse crumbs. Remove the foil from the pie and sprinkle topping over the baked pie. Leave uncovered and bake 15-20 minutes or until topping is lightly browned.

  • Step 5: Remove from oven and allow to cool on a wire rack. Remove sides of the springform pan when ready to serve. Garnish with additional caramel topping, if desired. And of course, some vanilla ice cream!
