Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2: Add the meat to a large skillet over medium heat and fry until crisp. Add the garlic and cook, stirring constantly, for one minute.
Step 3: Whisk in the flour and let it brown for just a second. Whisk in the milk and continue cooking, whisking constantly, until the mixture has thickened to the consistency of a gravy.
Step 4: Add the drained green beans to a large mixing bowl and pour the bacon mixture over the top. Add salt, pepper and half of the onions. Stir well to combine.
Step 5: Spread into a greased baking dish. Sprinkle the top with the cheese.
Step 6: Bake for 35 minutes uncovered. Sprinkle the remaining onions over the top of the casserole and continue baking for 5 minutes.
Step 7: Serve immediately.
