Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 egg yolks (save whites)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cup walnuts (finely chopped)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cream butter till light and fluffy; then gradually add the brown sugar.

  • Step 2: Add yolks to creamed mixture; blend in vanilla, salt, and flour and mix well.

  • Step 3: Shape into 1" balls and dip in unbeaten egg whites; roll in finely chopped walnuts.

  • Step 4: Place 1" apart on ungreased sheet and bake in a 350 degree oven for 5 minutes at which time you will make an indentation with your thumb.

  • Step 5: Return to oven and finish baking just a little while longer till done; place jelly or jam in the dent when cool.
