Step 1: Beat butter till light and fluffy
Step 2: Beat in 3/4 cup sugar, brown sugar, creme of tartar, baking soda, ground ginger and salt
Step 3: Beat in eggs and vanilla
Step 4: Beat in flour and crystallized ginger.
Step 5: Cover dough and chill 1 hour, or until easy to handle
Step 6: Preheat oven to 375F
Step 7: Shape dough into 1 1/4 inch balls, roll in sugar
Step 8: Place balls 3 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned
Step 9: Transfer to a wire rack to cool
