  • 1 teaspoon creme of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup crystallized ginger, finely chopped

How to Make

  • Step 1: Beat butter till light and fluffy

  • Step 2: Beat in 3/4 cup sugar, brown sugar, creme of tartar, baking soda, ground ginger and salt

  • Step 3: Beat in eggs and vanilla

  • Step 4: Beat in flour and crystallized ginger.

  • Step 5: Cover dough and chill 1 hour, or until easy to handle

  • Step 6: Preheat oven to 375F

  • Step 7: Shape dough into 1 1/4 inch balls, roll in sugar

  • Step 8: Place balls 3 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned

  • Step 9: Transfer to a wire rack to cool
