Step 1: In a large bowl, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
Step 2: Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Step 3: Beat in vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
Step 4: Stir in the pineapple, walnuts and cherries.
Step 5: Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheets.
Step 6: Bake at 425° for 7-9 minutes or until lightly browned.
Step 7: Remove to wire racks to cool.
