Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cup icing sugr
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • Paint:
  • 1/4 cup evaporated milk
  • Food color

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cream together powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, almond extract, and egg

  • Step 2: Stir in flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar until you have a smooth dough.

  • Step 3: Cover and refrigerate for 2-3 hours.

  • Step 4: Preheat oven to 375F.

  • Step 5: Line baking sheets with parchment paper

  • Step 6: Divide dough in half and roll one portion out on lightly floured surface to 3/16inch and cut into desired shapes

  • Step 7: Mix small amount evaporated milk with food coloring to make "paint" in a variety of colors. Use a small clean paintbrush to paint designs on cut out cookies

  • Step 8: Place on baking sheet and bake 7-8 minutes or until lightly browned on edges
