Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 large whole eggs
  • 2 egg yolks (from large eggs)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 2 cups light cream or 18% table cream (such as half and half do not use milk)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a 3-quart heavy saucepan whisk 2 whole eggs with 2 egg yolks, sugar and cornstarch. Gradually whisk in the light cream. Cook over medium heat whisking constantly until the mixture comes to a boil; cook 1 minute or until the mixture is thickened and bubbly.

  • Step 2: Remove from heat then whisk in butter and vanilla.

  • Step 3: Cover with a piece of plastic wrap directly over the top. Chill for 4 hours

  • Step 4: Use as desired.
