Step 1: Butter an 8 x 8-inch pan.
Step 2: In a medium saucepan combine the sugar with cream, butter and salt; bring to a boil stirring constantly (be careful the mixture does not boil over the sides of the saucepan).
Step 3: Reduce heat to medium-low (more to the low setting) and simmer gently for 5 minutes stirring frequently using a timer set to 5 minutes, no less than 5 minutes, even another minute more would be okay!.
Step 4: Remove from heat and stir in marshmallows, chocolate chips and vanilla mixing vigorously until smooth and combined (this may take a few minutes).
Step 5: Mix in nuts, then pour into pan.
Step 6: Cool to room temperature then refrigerate.
Step 7: Cut into small squares.
