Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 2/3 cups granulated sugar (remove 2 tablespoons for a less sweeter taste NOTE: please read my note in description)
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk (full-fat -- or 18% cream, do not use fat-free half and half)
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows (slightly packed when measured, I just use 1/2 of a small bag)
  • 9 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips (1 1/2 cups)
  • 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Butter an 8 x 8-inch pan.

  • Step 2: In a medium saucepan combine the sugar with cream, butter and salt; bring to a boil stirring constantly (be careful the mixture does not boil over the sides of the saucepan).

  • Step 3: Reduce heat to medium-low (more to the low setting) and simmer gently for 5 minutes stirring frequently using a timer set to 5 minutes, no less than 5 minutes, even another minute more would be okay!.

  • Step 4: Remove from heat and stir in marshmallows, chocolate chips and vanilla mixing vigorously until smooth and combined (this may take a few minutes).

  • Step 5: Mix in nuts, then pour into pan.

  • Step 6: Cool to room temperature then refrigerate.

  • Step 7: Cut into small squares.
