Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 pound beef sirloin steak, 1/2-inch thick
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 pound fresh mushrooms, washed, trimmed and sliced
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1 1/4 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 8 ounces wide egg noodles, cooked and drained
  • Parsley, chopped (optional)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cut meat into ½ inch strips, 1-1/2 inches long or bite size pieces.

  • Step 2: In a 12 inch skillet, melt the butter.

  • Step 3: Add the onion and meat strips; cook until meat is browned.

  • Step 4: Add the salt, pepper, garlic, ketchup and ¼ cup of beef broth. Cover the skillet and simmer on low until meat is tender; about 30 minutes. Add the slice mushrooms and heat through.

  • Step 5: In a small bowl, mix the remaining beef broth and cornstarch and add to the meat mixture; blending well. Turn heat to medium high and cook and stir about 1 minute until sauce is slightly thickened. Reduce heat to low.

  • Step 6: Stir in the sour cream and mix just until heated through; do not boil.

  • Step 7: Serve over hot noodles and sprinkle with chopped Parsley for garnish.

  • Step 8: Note: About 10 minutes before the meat is done, cook the noodles as directed on package; drain.
