Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 roast (3 pounds) beef chuck
  • 2 tablespoons oil (olive oil)
  • 3 yellow onions, sliced
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, chopped
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 bottle (12 ounce) beer (dark beer)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat oil in large pot over medium high. Season beef with salt and pepper. Brown meat well on both sides. Transfer beef to crock pot.

  • Step 2: Lower heat to medium and add the onions to the pan and saute for 10 minutes or until golden. Add garlic and stir for 1 minute.

  • Step 3: Pour in beer and beef broth and stir well to deglaze the pan.

  • Step 4: Pour onions and beer broth over the beef and add bay leaf.

  • Step 5: Cook on low for 5-6 hours. Beef should be pull-apart tender. If desired the broth can be ticken with a corn starch/water mixture.

  • Step 6: Serve with mashed potatoes.
