Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/2 to 2 pounds beef cube steak (approximately 4-5 pieces)
  • Salt and pepper
  • SAUCE
  • 1 large onion, cut in half and thin sliced
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced (white button, take advantage of the pre-sliced mushrooms at the grocery store)
  • 1 can (15 ounce) beef broth
  • 1/3 cup red wine
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 3 teaspoons oil (olive oil)
  • 1 teaspoon corn starch
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, fine chopped
  • 1 teaspoon all purpose seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

How to Make

  • Step 1: Beef ... Season the cube steak with salt and pepper on each side. To a large saute pan, add the butter and oil and bring to medium high heat. Add the beef and saute on each side until golden brown - about 2-3 minutes per side.

  • Step 2: Sauce ... Add in the onions, mushrooms, red wine, broth, and all purpose seasoning. Cover and simmer 1-1 1/2 hours, stir occasionally.

  • Step 3: Finish ... Check for seasoning and add any extra salt and pepper if necessary; and stir in the parsley.

  • Step 4: Serve ... ENJOY! over mashed potatoes or buttered noodles.
