Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 cups cheese-flavored crackers, crushed
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 3 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup egg substitute, or equal fresh eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, finely shredded
  • 1 tablespoon butter

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  • Step 2: In a small bowl combine 1 1/2 cups crushed crackers with 1/4 cup melted butter. Press across the bottom and up the sides of a 9 inch pie plate. Bake 5 minutes. Let cool completely.

  • Step 3: Increase oven to 450 degrees. In a large skillet cook onions in 2 tablespoons butter over low heat 10-15 minutes, or until soft stirring occasionally. Spoon into crust. Set aside.

  • Step 4: In a medium bowl stir together eggs, milk salt, Italian seasoning, pepper and garlic powder. Stir in cheese.

  • Step 5: In same skillet that you cooked the onions melt 1 tablespoon butter. Add egg mixture and over very low heat stir until cheese melts. Pour evenly over onions. Sprinkle with remaining crackers.

  • Step 6: Bake uncovered, 5 minutes. Reduce oven to 350 degress andbake 10-15 minutes more or until set. Let cool slightle before slicing.
