Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 to 3 mini (2 pounds) pound cakes (2 lbs total - you can also use 1 large cake too), frozen, store bought, or homemade)
  • 11 ounces caramels (unwrapped, soft caramel candy)
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 12 ounces semi sweet chocolate chips (2 cups)
  • Garnish
  • Chopped nuts
  • Vanilla ice cream
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cake ... Whether you use a 2 lb loaf, mini loafs, or cupcake size; the method is still the same. It's quick, easy, and delicious.

  • Step 2: Caramel ... Unwrap the caramels, and add to a small pot, along with the cream. Bring to medium low to low heat, until everything is melted and soft. You can do this in the microwave too; and, some prefer to use a double boiler, or a bowl over a pot of boiling water. However, I find, if you just keep an eye on it, a simple pot on the stove works just fine. Once melted, remove to cool.

  • Step 3: Spread the cooled caramel over the top of the pound cake; then, let it set until completely cooled.

  • Step 4: Chocolate ... Melt the chocolate; which I do in the microwave. Medium heat for 1 minute, stir and repeat - 1 more minute, stir and repeat until smooth and creamy. You may need to do it one more time if necessary. Let it cool just a bit before spreading it on top of the caramel topped pound cake. And, don't worry if the chocolate drips down the side.

  • Step 5: Serve and ENJOY! ... You can also garnish with chopped nuts if you want; but, I like it as is. It's quick and easy; yet, really delicious. A scoop of vanilla is also really good.
