Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour (plain)
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa
  • 125 grams butter
  • 1 tablespoon coffee granules (powder or shot of espresso)
  • 150 grams dark chocolate (cooking chocolate, roughly chopped)
  • 1 cup raw sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1/2 cup chocolate, chopped (or chocolate buttons, extra)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Sift the flour and cocoa into a bowl.

  • Step 2: Combine the butter, coffee, chocolate and sugar in a saucepan and melt over a very low heat or use the microwave.

  • Step 3: Cool and beat in the eggs and vanilla.

  • Step 4: Combine both mixtures and stir lightly but thoroughly to combine.

  • Step 5: Stir through the extra chocolate.

  • Step 6: Turn into a greased and lined 23cm square cake tin.

  • Step 7: Bake in a 180C preheat oven for 20 to 25 minutes (check at 20 minutes) or until the mixture is just firm to the touch and a skewer comes out with a few moist crumbs attached.

  • Step 8: Cool in the tin.

  • Step 9: Remove from the tin and cut into 9 or 12 squares.
