Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 pound ground beef (ground round)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 pound butter (1 stick)
  • 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup water

How to Make

  • Step 1: Combine meat, cumin, breadcrumbs, garlic, egg, salt, and pepper. Shape teaspoonsfuls of the meat mixture into oval or oblong shapes (wetting your hands to facilitate handling). Fry in butter over medium heat, turning frequently. Combine lemon juice and water and pur over the souzoukakia.

  • NOTE: Instead of frying the souzoukakia, you can place them in a single layer in a pan and brush with olive or vegetable oil. Broil on both sides until brown. Top with lemon sauce. They can also be served over rice as an entree.
