Step 1: Thinly slice cabbage after you take the core out.
Step 2: Melt the butter in a large skillet (I use a nonstick deep pan) and then over medium heat fry the cabbage till wilted and done; sometimes some of the strands get brownish as it almost caramelizes--add more butter if needed, a tad at a time.
Step 3: Turn the heat down and add salt and pepper and continue frying till done but don't let it burn.
