Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 can (13 ounce) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut, flaked
  • 1 tablespoon butter (salted, plus a bit more for buttering a dish)
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 224 grams pitted prunes (28 prunes)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating the candies)
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a medium-size heavy saucepan, combine condensed milk, coconut flakes, butter and egg yolks over medium-low heat. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon until the mixture is thick and you can see the bottom of the saucepan when you drag the spoon across the bottom. About 20 minutes.

  • Step 2: Remove from heat immediately and pour into a shallow buttered dish. Let cool to room temperature. To make rolling easier, you can refrigerate the mixture.

  • Step 3: Lightly butter your palms, scoop out the mixture with a teaspoon and roll it into a round but slightly elongated shape. Roll in sugar and set aside.

  • Step 4: Take a prune and cut a slit lengthwise, but not all the way through. You just want to make room for the coconut filling. Repeat with remaining prunes.

  • Step 5: Holding a prune, insert the rolled coconut in the opening, being careful to make a good seal between the coconut and the prune. Roll in sugar and set on a plate. Repeat with remaining prunes.

  • Step 6: If you'd like, you can place each candy in small paper candy cups.
