  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

How to Make

  • Step 1: Mix shortening,butter, 1 cup sugar and egg thoroughly. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla.

  • Step 2: Sift together flour, soda and salt and blend in first mixture.

  • Step 3: Chill dough overnight.

  • Step 4: Heat oven to 400 degrees.

  • Step 5: Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough about 2 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet.

  • Step 6: Sprinkle with mixture of 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon.

  • Step 7: Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until set, but not brown.

  • Step 8: Makes about 4 dozen 2 inch
