Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 cans (15 ounce) stewed tomatoes (with juice)
  • 1 cans (15 ounce) tomatoes (fire roasted tomatoes with juice)
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3 cups water
  • Salt, dash
  • Pepper, dash
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • FOR DUMPLINGS
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1/4 cup shortening (Crisco)
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

How to Make

  • TO MAKE THE SOUP

  • Step 1: Saute onion in butter. Add rest of ingredients.

  • Step 2: Wash the tomato cans out with the water.

  • Step 3: Bring all ingredients to a boil and mash the tomatoes.

  • Step 4: Spoon in dumplings with a teaspoon, dont stir them it will break the dumplings. Cover simmer 20 minutes.

  • TO MAKE THE DUMPLINGS

  • Step 5: Cut shortening onto flour. Add milk.
