Step 1: Saute onion in butter. Add rest of ingredients.
Step 2: Wash the tomato cans out with the water.
Step 3: Bring all ingredients to a boil and mash the tomatoes.
Step 4: Spoon in dumplings with a teaspoon, dont stir them it will break the dumplings. Cover simmer 20 minutes.
Step 5: Cut shortening onto flour. Add milk.
