  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 3 cups rhubarb, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • FOR DUMPLINGS
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • FOR TOPPING
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 6 cups ice cream

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cook sauce until until rhubarb is tender (make sure there is enough juice, you may need to add more water).

  • Step 2: Meanwhile, combine flour, salt, sugar, baking powder, butter, vanilla and milk to make dumpling dough.

  • Step 3: Drop dough by the tablespoons on top of rhubarb.

  • Step 4: Cover tightly and simmer 15 to 20 minutes.

  • Step 5: Sprinkle with topping serve with ice cream
