Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
Step 2: Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil.
Step 3: Cook spaghetti in the boiling water, stirring occasionally until "al dente" (cooked through but firm to the bite) Drain.
Step 4: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sausage meat and yellow onion, cook about 8 minutes or until done. Add in spaghetti sauce, simmer about 15-20 minutes. Season with some salt and pepper.
Step 5: Meanwhile, in a bowl, combine the cream cheese, sour cream and cottage cheese until well blended.
Step 6: Place half the slices of butter into the bottom of a greased 9x13-inch casserole dish.
Step 7: Spread half the cooked spaghetti into the dish, then using a tablespoon dollup the creamy mixture over the spaghetti (you can spread it of leave it in spoonfuls).
Step 8: Layer remaining spaghetti over creamy mixture.
Step 9: Top with remaining pats of butter.
Step 10: Pour sausage mixture mixture over spaghetti and spread to cover casserole (the pan will be very full).
Step 11: Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
Step 12: Remove from oven then top with mozzarella cheese. Continue baking until cheese has melted, about 10 more minutes.
