Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 package (16 ounce) dry spaghetti pasta
  • 1 pound Italian sausage (or use ground beef instead)
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 jar (16 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
  • Salt & pepper
  • 1/2 cup butter (sliced & divided)
  • 12 ounces cottage cheese (1 1/2 cups)
  • 8 ounce cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 package (3 ounces) cream cheese (softened)
  • 5 ounces sour cream (6 tablespoons)
  • 8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

  • Step 2: Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil.

  • Step 3: Cook spaghetti in the boiling water, stirring occasionally until "al dente" (cooked through but firm to the bite) Drain.

  • Step 4: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sausage meat and yellow onion, cook about 8 minutes or until done. Add in spaghetti sauce, simmer about 15-20 minutes. Season with some salt and pepper.

  • Step 5: Meanwhile, in a bowl, combine the cream cheese, sour cream and cottage cheese until well blended.

  • Step 6: Place half the slices of butter into the bottom of a greased 9x13-inch casserole dish.

  • Step 7: Spread half the cooked spaghetti into the dish, then using a tablespoon dollup the creamy mixture over the spaghetti (you can spread it of leave it in spoonfuls).

  • Step 8: Layer remaining spaghetti over creamy mixture.

  • Step 9: Top with remaining pats of butter.

  • Step 10: Pour sausage mixture mixture over spaghetti and spread to cover casserole (the pan will be very full).

  • Step 11: Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.

  • Step 12: Remove from oven then top with mozzarella cheese. Continue baking until cheese has melted, about 10 more minutes.
