Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3 ounces sliced bacon (3 strips)
  • 1 small yellow onion (sliced thin)
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 2 cans (15 ounce) string beans (cut green beans, drained, saving 1/2 cup)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 2 large eggs (hard cooked)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Drain beans and reserve 1/2 cup of liquid.

  • Step 2: Fry bacon until crisp. Remove bacon and crumble. Drain off all but 1 tbsp. of drippings. Add onion and brown slightly.

  • Step 3: Stir in salt, cornstarch, sugar, vinegar, mustard and the 1/2 cup liquid from beans. Stir constantly until mixture boils and thickens.

  • Step 4: Add the drained beans and heat thoroughly,

  • Step 5: Turn into serving dish and garnish with crumbled bacon and hard boiled eggs.
