  • Sliced bread (French, cut into 1-inch slices)
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • SYRUP
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 lemon (peel and juice)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Orange peel (1 peel)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Get syrup started by boiling water, honey, sugar, lemon peel and juice, cinnamon stick, and orange.

  • Step 2: Peel together for a couple minutes.

  • Step 3: Let steep; remove peels and cinnamon stick.

  • Step 4: Get pan hot with a light coating of butter.

  • Step 5: Dip bread in milk; soak for a minute but so it does not break.

  • Step 6: Dip in egg.

  • Step 7: Put in pan to cook until lightly browned.

  • Step 8: They serve this warm or cold and the syrup is soaked in, or just served with honey or plain.
